I put my favorite movies in 2 eras....I'll call them simply...old...and new.

Old can go back as far as silent films....I am an old movie buff and collector as many know.

The old movie that still blows me away......and still gets me every time......is...

"The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance"

James Stewart (vintage Stewart)...John Wayne...Vera Miles...Thomas Mitchell....Lee Marvin

Its so much more than a western....give it a shot....I bet you'll like it.

Its best remembered for a line hear the end of the movie I will never forget....

"When the legend becomes fact......print the legend"

Michelle great quote.. For not being mentioned specifically for it.. When you look at it on paper. The cast is incredible. Even smaller characters played by Lee Van Cleef, and not sure was other stooge outlaw for Marvin Strother Martin cool hand luke fame?

Vixen, Marvel announced they're doing Netflix tv shows featuring New York street level characters.  In 2015 we'll see "Daredevil" "Jessica Jones" "Iron Fist" and "Luke Cage" following up with a mini series called "The Defenders" I think each show will be 13 episodes with the Defenders being a miniseries.

I have a new movie I like watching this time of year. "Hop".

I liked Hop but all the adorable CGI movies start to run together after a while.  I kind of wish people would do some regular animation again so the styles would be a little more distinct.  I can tell The Little Mermaid apart from The Land Before Time just from the color palette of a landscape shot, let alone the characters involved.

... I'll accept a Netflix mini-series, but Power Man and Iron Fist are really perfectly suited for a big-screen buddy movie.

Don Bluth also has a recognizable style, much like Ralph Bakshi.  CGI stuff isn't really lending itself to styles so far.

I'd could see Ray Park and Dwayne Johnson as Power man and Iron Fist on the big screen.  But I am glad to see them try and do something to expand the reach of their characters. I'm assuming these characters will be part of the MCU as well.

Happened to look at cast list for new X-men heading out .. Sighhhh does not seem like Emma Frost among them... They do have Kitty Pryde/ Shadow cat .. Yet no white witch..

Think they need to do a movie, x-men getting away from Magneto for a change. Maybe using the hellfire club instead.

Which is weird, because there's no reason it SHOULDN'T.  If anything, 16 billion colors and infinite sightlines of the digital space should allow for tremendous individual expression, but everyone ends up rigging the same sort of skeletons with the same sort of uncanny valley shiny figures.

You know what DID have a distinctive maintained style, in both design and color range?  The Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs series.  Fucking fantastic movies, way better than I anticipated.

Well with computer graphics, many times it's a function of the software and hardware you have.  I really want to see Mr. Peabody and Sherman when it's on Redbox so I can tell if they kept the style of the tv series.  Cloudy was really different in great ways I agree. I just think sometimes the CGI folks get too wrapped up in the themes of the animation instead of taking chances with lighting and colors.  Sleeping Beauty is one of my favorite movies because it does run a gamut of styles and the music and animation all create perfect mood swings along the way.

... Stormy, I LOVED Treasure Planet.  I also kind of thought I was the only person in the world who'd seen it.

maybe it was the 100 degree plus temperature I had....

But i loved it :)

As usual some amazing backgrounds .. A very interesting twist on the classic tale.  You can tell, some people really had begun playing with blends of classic animation, mixed with CGI.
Think it was about the same time  Titan A.E. came out, different studio.  Another space epic, that worked between both medias.

Happened to catch Captain America Winter soldier finally ...  As usual have to make sure to catch the Stan Lee cameo..
Plus the after credits reveal of soon to be Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch!!

Not hearing anything on it ... Yet kind of feel a vibe.. They need to do Black Widow her own feature. They seem to be using her a lot.

Trailers.... MALIFICENT  DAMN this is looking very good!!  Godzilla .. Ummmmmm still not sure of.
Guardians of the Galaxy .. Still looking weak .. NOT good when the teaser to catch your attention. Has you still not sure you really want to spend theater money to see it or wait for home release.

THAT said .... DAMN missed something classic around Easter.. Like January princess bride. They did showing of Charlton Heston/ Yul Brynner Ten Commandments restored.
Also did Ben Hur ... Guess I will have to keep an eye out next year this time.

I think Godzilla's gonna be fantastic.  At the very least, it's gonna blow the last American attempt into sizzling spattered fragments all over the lawn.

That's setting the bar very low.  I think everyone involved should apologize to Jean Reno for having his awesomeness wasted in that dreck.

Have you seen the trailer for Asia? It has a little more in it that makes me even more stoked for the film.

Jean Reno at least made his scenes watchable.  His pointless, pointless scenes in a basketball arena filled with raptors.

Here's a Godzilla movie - half of it is a romantic comedy with a pudgy Ferris Bueller and half of it is a cheap Jurassic Park remake with lots of Knicks product placement.

In between there's an iguana eating fish.

Jesus.

Yeah, the new one looks pretty fucking incredible.

I mean, it's gonna have to try pretty hard to beat Godzilla: Final Wars for ME, at least, but it looks like it'll give it a try.
